M.H.S. SkillsUSA Students take Gold and Bronze at State!

Twelve Montecito High School SkillsUSA Competitors, under the leadership of Nicholas Jordan, traveled to Ontario this weekend to compete in the SkillsUSA State Competition.  The students qualified for the State competition by placing is the top 6 in the Regionals which took place last month.   Montecito High School took two Teamworks teams and 4 individuals.  Teamworks A is comprised of Luis Lozano Castillo, Jered Burchard, Tony Rincon and Dartanian Danks and Teamworks B includes David Mercado, Kevin Molinero, Nick Tarantino and Marshawn Curlee.    The teamworks groups were tasked to build a structure including framing, siding, plumbing, masonry and electrical in a 2 day time frame (14 hours). The individual competitors included MHS Students Adrian Garcia, Matthew McClellan, Matthew Tarantino and Trevor Keck. The individuals were instructed to build a structure including framing, hip roof, facia and siding.  The students were given blueprints and had the task to build the project from ground up including pulling the correct materials for the project.   Teamworks A took Gold and Teamworks B took Bronze for the State of California!  Adrian Garcia who competed in the individual competition took Bronze for the State of California!  The A team who took Gold will advance to the National Competition taking place in Kentucky in June. It is a great day to be a Toro!
