Dear Montecito High School and Future Bound Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school-year! I am so excited to join the Montecito High School staff as the new principal and to support the Ramona Unified School District. Though I am new to the Ramona community, I have worked in other north county school districts for over two decades as a teacher, principal and district level administrator. I believe strongly that my most vital responsibility is to give every student what they need to succeed while preparing them for their unique college and/or career journey after graduation. I look forward to meeting you and our students in the next two weeks.
The first day of school is Monday, August 22 and the Montecito staff is ready to welcome students back to school. We want our students to be successful far beyond high school, so our curriculum is designed with that in mind. Instruction is designed to support our students’ attainment of the California State Standards, as well as support the development of the whole child. Instructional time is very important to the success of your student’s academic performance. Students are expected to attend every day, on time for each class and arrive to class prepared. We have many supports in place to help meet the needs of each student, including counseling, tutoring, after-school activities, and online courses. The staff of Montecito High School cares about students and strives to help each student achieve their short term and long term goals, in a small, personalized school setting. This care extends from academics to personal well being, and to planning for after high school.
On Thursday, September 1, 2022, Montecito High will host “Back to School Night” at 5:00 pm in the Multipurpose room. Each teacher will give a brief presentation. The goal of this evening is to have parents meet their child’s teachers, learn classroom expectations and course requirements, as well as establish effective communication systems with your child’s teacher to support your child’s success.
Our School Site Council is in need of parent members. The school site council is a group of teachers, parents, classified employees, and students (at the high school level) that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. The School Site Council meets quarterly to review student achievement data, the proposed Single Plan for Student Achievement and to provide input into the school budget. If you are interested in serving as a parent representative this year, please contact me via email or phone.
